Invisalign braces are a set of clear braces, made from plastic which gradually move the teeth into their correct position. Their transparent appearance has resulted in them being known as ‘invisible braces’.
Teenagers and adults can wear Invisalign braces. There are 3 versions of this revolutionary brace which include:
- Invisalign
- Invisalign Teen
- Invisalign Lite
The orthodontist will advise you about the most suitable version. See for adults.
The Invisalign brace is worn for up to 22 hours a day. Treatment takes from 6 months to a year or in some cases, 18 months. It moves the teeth gradually within that period, using gentle forces to re-align them. This brace is replaced every 4 weeks with a new one.
The advantage of this brace and other clear versions is comfort and flexibility. There are no uncomfortable metal and elastic components which irritate the mouth and make it difficult to clean. This brace is removed only for cleaning which is carried out with a toothbrush and dental floss – in the same way you clean your natural teeth.
You will be given a retainer to wear once treatment has completed to prevent the risk of a relapse.
